The success of Carpenter depends on all of us – teachers, staff, and parents – working together for the benefit of our students. Our award winning local unit of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and Parents for Carpenter (PFC) are the two organizations that focus much of our parent involvement. The PTA is the largest and oldest advocacy group in the world for children and youth. Our PTA is a unit of the Valley Gateway Council, which in turn is part of the 31st District of California. (See below for this year's list of PTA officers.) Even though the PTA is nonpartisan, it has a legislative platform and develops policies and positions on issues which are adopted and amended at annual State PTA conventions. In addition, the PTA works with representatives of other education, health and public welfare agencies to provide services for our children. PTA's 31st District offers dental and health care services for eligible students who would not otherwise receive these services. The PTA sponsors scholarships, on-site school programs and parent education seminars throughout the year. The PTA membership drive begins in September! Our unit keeps a portion of each collected membership. We forward the balance to the 31st District to help fund lobbying efforts in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. and to assist with other PTA projects. Be sure to join the PTA during this membership drive. PTA and PFC meetings are combined and held the 1st Thursday of each month unless school holidays necessitate changes. Please check the school calendar for specific dates. You
can contact us via our
general email address, PTA@carpenterave.org,
or by one of the specific email address below. You can also leave
messages in the school office for any PTA officer and it will be
forwarded accordingly.
